Dimapur, Aug. 12 (EMN): Jalukie battalion of Assam Rifles claimed to have busted a temporary camp and destroyed in New Ngaolong village under Peren district on Aug. 8.
In a delayed report, Assam Rifles informed that it has launched an operation based on specific intelligent information regarding presence of armed NSCN (IM) cadres in New Ngaolong village.
During search operation, it stated that the personnel noticed the presence of a group of 10 to 15 NSCN (IM) cadres in a temporary camp, which was in gross violation of ceasefire ground rules.
It stated that the column approached the camp and asked the NSCN (IM) cadres to surrender peacefully as per CFGR guidelines on the morning of August 8. However, the cadres responded by bringing down heavy volume of automatic fire on the security force column.
The NSCN (IM) cadres abandoned the camp and fled taking cover of the thick jungle and foliage, the press release stated.
Later, the temporary camp was said to have been destroyed by the Assam Rifles.
