Apps for Manipur govt employees now available on smart phones

IMPHAL, September 3: Manipur Chief Secretary O Nabakishore on Saturday said that various applications (Apps) such as Jamabandis, Dag chithas, Loucha pathap are now available on smart phones.
Apart from it, government employees can download their GPF (General Provident Fund) accounts and balance sheets from any android phone, tablet, apple, ipad etc. Similarly, employees can assess their details in CPIS Apps, Chief Secretary Nabakishore said while addressing a press conference held at Conference Hall of Old Secretariat here.
Pensioners and vehicle registration related can also be availed under SMS services. Under Information Technology (IT), Government of Manipur has taken up programmes like e-district, e-governance, digital India, he said.
Recently, cabinet has agreed to upgrade IT department to directorate level. To strengthen the department of IT, government has appointed qualified IT officers. IT Department is implementing IT related Project/Schemes, including e-Governance in the State. The government has taken up e-office and even e-cabinet. Under e-office, electronic file movement could be possible up to the highest level. The department has also successfully taken up a pilot project on introducing paperless e-office in a few departments of the Government of Manipur including DIT Manipur and the same is proposed to be introduced in phases in all departments of the government of Manipur. The introduction of e-governance will bring about greater transparency, accountability and maintained secrecy in electronic format, added the Chief Secretary.
Commissioner of IT PK Singh said, the department of IT is trying to develop various Apps through which the patients can book appointment or consult doctors from home. Manipur Public Service Commission has successfully implemented online process for submission of forms etc. Manipur has moved ahead having established an IT Park.
Establishing a State Wide Area Network will connect all government offices in the State in one single Network while all the nine district headquarters and 17 block Headquarters are connected with the said network. Another major activity of the department is the e-district project which will provide online application and issue Certificates like Birth & Death Certificates etc. IT Special Economic Zone is coming up at Mantripukhri which is expected to be ready by March 2017.
State Informatics Officer of National Informatics Centre (NIC), Imphal Kh Rajen said that 100% of Land record computerization for Bishnupur district has been completed. Eighty percent for Imphal East whereas, about 20% only of Land record computerization for Imphal West and Thoubal district has been completed so far. The day’s press conference was also attended by Additional Director (IT) Deben.
