APO assesses Phesama landslide situation

The Angami Public Organization (APO) on Thursday visited the landslide-affected areas of NH-29 under Phesama village in Kohima.
“On interaction with the village leaders and concerned people, it was observed that the landslide affected area was approximately 5 km in radius and the livelihood of neighboring villages and neighboring state like Manipur was severely affected,” stated a press release from the APO.
The damage to crops and vegetation was huge, damage to property accounting to a total of 42 houses and some vehicles were recorded.
“The APO team was touched by the humanity and brotherhood sprit prevailing in the affected area. Hundreds of village youth, both boys and girls were helping the travelers cross the affected area and helping in every way they can.”
APO would like to thank the volunteers of Phesama and neighboring villages and also the concerned government authority, NGOs for their good work and selfless service in the affected area, it stated.
“APO wishes that we keep such traditions of service and brotherhood passed on to us by our forefathers alive for future generations. Finally, APO would like to urge the concerned authorities to take note of the situation and work swiftly to restore connectivity and resources compromised by the landslide.”
