Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): The Ao Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship has issued a statement concerning cleansing the ‘electioneering system’ in Nagaland and also against the ‘continued spate of discrimination and atrocities committed against the Christians in the country.’
The resolutions, made known in a statement released to the media by the Ao pastors, were undertaken during their fellowship from April 21 to the 23rd at Kumlong Baptist Arogo in Mokokchung town.
The pastor’s fellowship resolved to have a chain of prayer in all the churches ‘for cleaner elections in the state’ and also to uphold in prayer ‘the continued discrimination and atrocities against ‘believers’ in the country.’ It is understood that the initiative will culminate with a day of fasting and prayer, according to an email on Wednesday.
The pastors also denounced the selection of ‘village and citizen’s forum candidates’ during elections ‘as it undermines the rights of the citizens and therefore leads to corrupt practices during elections.’
It resolved that the fellowship would not vote or support any group or party that persecutes Christians.
The pastors also resolved to compose a song for Clean Elections that will be sung in all the churches.
In the fifth resolution, the pastors decided to write to the President of India about the discrimination and atrocities against Christians in the country.
The speakers during the fellowship were Rev. Dr. Wati Aier, principal of OTS; Rev. Dr. Mar Pongen, principal of CTC; Rev. Bendangmeren, pastor of KABA; and Rev. Maong Lemtur, associate pastor of DABA, the release added.
