Ao community cautions anti-social elements

Dimapur, Dec. 15 (EMN): Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD), apex Ao community organisation, has resolved to apprehend anyone and award befitting punishment as per Ao customary law and practices as well as prevalent provisions and laws of the land against those demanding money in the form of extortion, donation and taxation without any tangible reason and proof from its bonafide members.
A joint press statement issued by ASTD president L Wati Jamir, Watsü Telongjem Dimapur (WTD) president Yarsangla, youth organisation Dimapur Ao Lanur Telongjem (DALT) president Aotemsü and the students’ organisation Dimapur Kaketshir Telongjem Dimapur (AKTD) president Lanutoshi have warned of immediate punitive action against anyone resorting to harassment of its members.

It further stated that ASTD would even extend to imposing indefinite total non-cooperation to such elements in future.
Meanwhile, ASTD has appreciated the Public Action Committee (PAC) of the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD for the prompt action pertaining to kidnapping of a Naga lady from her shop in East Dimapur for ransom by a particular Naga political group, illegal demand of money from labourers of church building construction in Aoyim village and shooting incident at Riven Honda showroom.
ASTD has assured all out efforts and supports towards any move initiated by the PAC in the days to come.
