The eagerly awaited Süngkotenem Angling festival 2015 got underway here today with Mokokchung District Fishery Officer, Imtisunep as the chief guest.
As part of the inaugural of the annual angling festival, a day-long angling competition was held where Opangrenba was adjudged the winner of the ‘biggest catch’ competition who hooked a 1 kg carp, while Yarshilu was adjudged the runner-up for his 0.6 kg catch. The two winners were awarded cash prize of Rs.10,000/- and Rs.5,000/- respectively, along with certificates. Both the winners were from Chuchuyimpang village.
A total of 58 anglers competed at the premier angling competition in Mokokchung.
The angling festival will continue from Monday next till September 5. There will be a ‘biggest catch award’ on all days of the fest, the informed the organizers Mopungchuket Community Tourism Society.
