Angami Baptist body decries questionable electoral activities

Despite the Clean Election Campaign by the Church and a call to probity, the By-election in Northern Angami Assembly Constituency – II held on 29th July 2017 received mixed response. To those willfully designed, planned and distributed money to buy votes, may God deal with you justly. To those who willfully sold their votes, may God deal with you justly. To those women who took turns carrying infant baby on their back for easy access to polling station and cast proxy votes, may God deal with you justly. To those church leaders who willfully acted in contradiction to the campaign, I bow my head in shame for you. God will deal with you and more severely.

Despite the sins committed by many, there are also many who have responded willfully to the call of Clean Election and chose to remain clean. May God bless you richly and increase your tribe. I want to thank all the “just-loving” people, individuals and organizations, who have made effort for a better tomorrow. The Angami Baptist Church Council will continue to campaign for a God-honoring society and will not be deterred nor distracted by determined opposing elements in any way.
