ANCSU Collegiate Meet underway

Dimapur, Nov. 14 (EMN): Minister for PWD, Tongpang Ozukum graced the inaugural function of the all Nagaland college students union (Ancsu) collegiate meet and challenged the students to participate in the different events with a spirit of sportsmanship spirit and to maintain with fair play and team spirit.
The minister was accompanied by a host of dignitaries, PWD officials, Ancus senior and leaders from the Naga Students Federation. Speaking at the programme, Ozukum recalled his association with the ANCSU over the years and he called upon the concerned departments, Nagaland University and the state government to come together and host such kind of meet that gives privilege to students to expose their talents. He said that sports is not only for celebration but a time to unite as sports has no language and therefore encouraged the students to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship.

The convenor, organising committee, Tsukjem Longkumer, while delivering the keynote address gave a recap on how the ANCSU collegiate meet has given opportunities to students in different fields. He encouraged the students to take ahead the dreams and aspiration of the union through gatherings like the collegiate meet.

Ancsu president, Katho P. Awomi, while delivering the presidential address, called upon the state government to adopt sports and other co-curricular activities in the educational institutions.
He shared happiness at the mammoth gathering and said, “The collegiate meet is also a moment for the students to exercise themselves to fight for their rights when called upon”.

NSF general secretary, Imtiyapang Imsong, also speaking at the programme, appreciated the Ancsu for being the backbone of the students community. Games & Sports in-charge, Benjong Longchar administrated the oath to the participating teams. The day was marked with events like football (men), volleyball (women) and badminton mixed doubles. During the meet, various sport disciplines to be played. Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, advisor rural development will grace the beat contest as the special invitee, stated a press release from the union.
