ANCSU appeals for more MBBS, BDS seat allotment

DImapur, May 16 (EMN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has appealed to the Director of Technical Education to take initiative with the concerned ministry in acquiring MBBS, BDS seats for students of Nagaland.
In a representation to the director of Technical Education, the union has put-forth serious concern to the selection of MBBS, BDS candidates for undergoing professional courses.
A press release issued by the union vice president and education secretary, stated that ‘the ANCSU have learnt from reliable sources that the Nagaland state has failed to acquire MBBS, BDS seats for the students under NEC during the year 2017.’
The union has appeal to the department to initiate with the concerned ministry and acquire seats for the year 2018 and onwards.
“Aspirants for MBBS, BDS is increasing every year, however due to less allocation of seats to our state, a good number of candidates are deprived to pursue their career,” it stated.
The ANCSU also stated that merit list should be strictly maintained and placement of institutions should be on merit basis, to ensure fair and transparency in selection of candidates.
Stating that the union shall not accept any kind of manipulation or modification in selection of candidates, it also reminded that the placement of institutions for selected candidates for undergoing the courses should be on merit basis.
The ANCSU strongly believe in giving the best opportunity to the most deserving candidates, it added.
The union also demanded that the merit list and placement of be published in local dailies for transparency.
The ANCSU shall be vigilant in this matter and shall monitor closely during the process of selection and thereon, it stated.
The ANCSU also appealed the department for necessary publications on time to avoid inconveniences and misunderstandings among the students’ community.
Further, it stated that the department should strictly follow the existing guidelines for selection candidates for undergoing professional courses. In case of addition or deletion in the existing guidelines, the ANCSU said the concerned may informed the union for proper review and consultation for implementation in the interest of the students’ community.
