Irked over the apathy shown by the state government towards its demand for release of pending scholarship for students, the All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) has on Sunday announced that it would launch its third phase agitation on December 1, which incidentally coincides with the Nagaland statehood day and the opening of the hyped 10-day annual Hornbill Festival of the state government.
In this regard, ANCSU officials have asked all the college students to gather at ANCSU office on December 2 at 9 am to kick-off the third phase of agitation “if the government fails to disburse the scholarship by then”. This was stated in a release issued to the press by ANCSU vice president Temjennungsang Jamir and general secretary Benjongakum Longchar.
The dismayed ANCSU has been agitating against the state government due to non-fulfilment of its demands in the payment of pending students scholarships since November 20 last. The first phase of the agitation was wearing black badges which was followed shortly by the second phase in the form of a poster campaign.
“With no satisfactory initiatives made by the government, the ANCSU hereby states that the union remains firm with its ultimatum served to the Chief Minister of Nagaland,” the release stated.
