Amur Falcon draws with MRH Sunrisers

Kohima, June 23 (EMN): Amur Falcon FC scored a late goal as they held on for a 2-2 draw against MRH Sunrisers at the D Khel ground Kohima on Friday morning.

Playing at the ongoing Morning Premier League, Apong scored the first goal for MRH Sunrisers in the 3rd minute assisted by Manen. With better composition and possession, the lead continued until the end of the first half with 1-0. However, Amur Falcon team came stronger in the second half and broke the deadlock as Mele levelled the score in the 46th minute. MRH got on the driver seat, when Chuba with his effort retained the lead again for MRH in the 63rd minute. As the match was going in favour of MRH Sunrisers, Kezevituo set up Akhum to score and levelled the scoreline again with 20 minutes remaining in the second half. With no comebacks from the both sides, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
With the draw, Amur Falcon sits in 4th position with 31 points from 16 matches but out of title contention as they remained four points below the league leaders Power Comm. On the other hand MRH Sunrisers pine in the 7th place with 20 points from 16 matches.
With just two matches remaining in the league, Power Comm are on the top of the table and wins against 6th placed Morung United and 4th placed Amur Falcon FC in the last two matches will make Power Comm the champions of the Morning Premier League on better goal difference even if Medical XI wins both the matches.
While 2nd placed Medical XI who faces 5th place MRH FC and 7th place MRH Sunrisers in the last two matches will be hoping for a draw or lose for Power Comm to dethrone the league leaders and kept the title race alive.
