Students from Mokokchung’s schools just might not have lovely high-school-days memories to look back to if their student organization finds them hogging tobacco, bunking, or indulging in “immoral activities”.
The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) issued a press release on Thursday, August 27, sternly warning against what they said was ‘deteriorating discipline’ of students in Mokokchung. Some of the points of concern the organization raised in the press release included use of tobacco products, use of mobile phones in school campus, truancy and “immoral activities”.
The AKM has cautioned that the student leadership would be undertaking raids and ‘surprise checking’ in the schools. Students have been warned of ‘dire consequences’.
‘The Ao Students’ Conference in a surprise visit to schools in Mokokchung town have seriously noted down the rampant raise in use of tobacco products by students, deteriorating discipline in some schools, use of mobile phones inside school campus, bunking of classes and indulging in immoral activities,’ the organization stated in the press release.
The AKM cautioned the students with a warning that “surprise visit will continue throughout the year, and to maintain strict discipline, dress code, right attitude and behavior and to uphold the image of a responsible student”.
“The AKM also further warned the students of dire consequences if anyone was (sic) caught involving in any the reasons given above,” the organization added.
