Dimapur, Jan. 2: Akhoya Students’ Union (ASU) celebrated its platinum jubilee on December 29 with Anenla S Longchari as the chief guest and Rev. Dr. M Rongsen Longkumer, professor at Clark Theological College, Aolichen, as main speaker.
In her speech, Anenla S Longchari reminded the students that education is not measured by just passing academic grade and getting degrees but by acquiring knowledge and its application to meet the needs of the people.
She encouraged the students to set proper aim in life from the very beginning and put serious effort in endeavouring to reach that target so as to enable them use their own potentials for the benefit of the society.
Anela S Longchari is the first IAS woman officer from Akhoya village.
Speaking on the jubilee theme “For the nations,” Rev. Prof. M Rongsen Longkumer emphasised that everyone should consciously act according with the changing global scenario.
He urged upon the students to acquire skills and find themselves employed without depending on government. He further encouraged the students to serve the nations meaningfully.
T Aochuba (IFS) and Limaakum T Jamir (NPS) also exhorted the students, while AKM president, L Jemti Longchar and LKM president, Imnakika Jamir conveyed jubilee greetings on the occasion.
The other highlights of the jubilee celebration included special numbers presented by the jubilee choir, Naga Idol finalist Purkumzük, duet singers from Dimapur, Taochimen & Jungjenna and Katila & Sennala.
Earlier, the chief guest unveiled the jubilee monument and released the souvenir. The jubilee celebration was also marked by jubilee feast.
