AIR officials meet to improve linking facilities

Mokokchung, May 17 (EMN): A two-day meeting of All India Radio Stations Zonal Programme Coordinating Committee (ZPCC) of the North Eastern Region got underway today in Mokokchung.
The meet is being held at Metsuben conference hall organised by AIR and DDK, NEZ Guwahati, and hosted by AIR Mokokchung. Senior officials from Zonal ADG offices of North eastern states and top programme officials from 26 radio stations including that of Sikkim are attending the meet.
Advisor of North Eastern Region, DN Basumatari, in his inaugural address, said the meeting would dwell upon the issues which are relevant to address by stressing more towards progress and better linking of all stations.
The advisor also expressed his concern on the fiscal prudence of the stations and urged all the members to maintain austerity measures. Despite financial constraint, Basumatari has assured to implement all the time-bound programmes at the earliest. He further requested the stations to give their best effort in planning programmes to earn revenue while delivering the best programmes to the listeners.
Appreciating the AIR Mokokchung for hosting the maiden ZPCC meet, the advisor has expressed desire for a sincere deliberation of all the members to arrive at a positive outcome for the welfare of the people.
Also speaking on the occasion, deputy director general (E), KV Ramachandran, representing ADG (Engineering) section, said the coming together of AIR stations would have a greater advantage to strengthen the face of the stations in the region.
He called upon the members to utilise the available facilities to the optimum for desired improvement of the stations both physically and technically.
In regard to linking and life streaming of all stations in the region, Ramachandran informed that a first of its kind application is being developed by Naga engineers under AIR Kohima. He expressed hope that the software would be used in all the stations for life streaming. He further called upon the members to take a pledge to give all effort and to deliver the best to the government and the people.
During the discussion hour, representatives have deliberated on issues relating to conducting programmes, need for studio refurbishing, problems on studio and transmitter linking, requirement of FM transmitter for wider coverage of NES programmes, and transfer policy of staff.
The delegates also raised points on technical hurdles regarding the broadcast of programmes and sought ways to cope up with the changing scenario in the broadcasting sector.
In her welcome address, AIR Mokokchung head of office, Abeno Lasuh, has wished for a progressive outcome of the meet. The members also paid tributes and offered a silent prayer to the departed officials of AIR stations.
In the evening, the visiting guests were enthralled with cultural extravaganza presented by the local artistes.
On the second and final day on May 18, the meet would deliberate on administrative matters and visit some promotional centres under Mokokchung district.
