Kohima, Oct. 2 (EMN): Another milestone for the All India Radio (AIR) at Kohima: a new programme called FM Tragopan has been launched on Oct. 2. The new programme was launched by the director of Information & Publicity Relations Limawati Ao, the chief guest of the event, at the Akashvani conference hall.
With the launch of the new programme, FM Tragopan can be heard daily from 6 AM to 9:30 PM. This was informed KV Ramachandran, deputy director general (engineering) of Kohima AIR.
Listeners in Kohima can tune into FM Tragopan 103 Megahertz, while all FM relay centres installed at Dimapur, Meluri and Shamator can be heard at 100.1 Megahertz. Listeners in Phek can tune in to 102.1 Mega Hertz FM Channel, which was commissioned on October 2.
Speaking at the programme, Ao lauded the officers and staff members of AIR for coming up with the new feature.
‘Radio plays a big role in the life of the people, particularly the rural populace,’ Ao said. The official recalled that the main source of information and entertainment during the ‘60s, ‘70s, and the ‘80s was through the radio.
“Today, Kohima has an FM channel of our own. I am delighted to be a part of the launching programme of FM Tragopan, while I wish the family of AIR the very best for the future,” he said. The officer expressed hope that the platform of FM Tragopan will be able to highlight the ‘talents of the people of Nagaland.’
