AIR Kohima to organise state level folk music competition

To tap more talents and to encourage more choral groups in North East region, a NorthEast Choral Music Competition is being organised by All India Radio, NorthEast region. This was stated in a press note issued by Prasar Bharati, All India Radio Kohima.
The preliminary rounds is said to be held in each capital stations of the North East wherein the winners will be competing at the grand finale scheduled to be held on February 24 and February 2018 at All India Radio, Guwahati . The Head of Programme, AIR Kohima has informed that the participating choral group should consist of 10-16 members, in the age group of 16-30 years.
The note further states that the group will perform in English or local dialects in which a gist translation should be provided. Each groups need to present three songs of five minutes each during the screening. ‘An amount of 1050 rupees in cash will be charged as processing fee,’ stated the release. Cash prize money amounting to one lakh rupees, 50 thousand and 30 thousand, along with citations will be awarded to the best three groups in the North East choral music competition.
In regard to the upcoming competition, AIR Kohima will be organising a state level folk music competition.
Interested choral and folk groups are advised to collect forms from September 14 between 11 am to 4 pm from Renubala, Programme Executive (room no. seven), ground floor.
