Aier seeks aid for mining sector

Imtiwapang AierDimapur, May 27: Highlighting State’s helplessness due to financial paucity, Parliamentary Secretary of Geology and Mining, Dr. Imtiwapang Aier, today sought pecuniary assistance for the development of mining sector in the State.
Dr. Imtiwapang Aier said this in his address at the 2nd National Meet of Mining Ministers on key issues pertaining to mining sector in Jaipur on May 27. The meet was organized by the Ministry of Mines Government of India.
Aier said mining sector in Nagaland was lacking behind and is still in infant stage adding the State government was “struggling hard for effective implementation” in this sector. He added that the State government’s mining department was “helpless and crippled due to financial paucity.”Aier also made two proposals in the meet seeking pecuniary assistance. His proposals included assistance for effective implementation of Nagaland Minor Minerals Concession Rules 2005 for “sustainable mining of minor minerals for economic development of the tribal people” and setting up of a mining vocational training centre in Nagaland. This was informed in a press release issued by the officer in-charge accompanying the Parliamentary Secretary.
Union Minister of Steel and Mines, Narendra Singh Tomar, delivered the keynote address in the meet. All the state mining ministers and senior officers in-charge of mining departments attended the one-day national meet.
Nagaland delegation to the meet led by Dr. Imtiwapang Aier included Imjung M Panger, Secretary of Geology and Mining; Koratemjen Ao, OSD Geology and Mining; and Er. RNakhro, Mining Engineer. The meeting was chaired by AK Mallik, Secretary of Ministry of Mines, Government of India.
