Dimapur, Aug. 17 (EMN): Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (LFA) organised a one day advocacy programme on HIV & AIDS with Oriental Theological Seminary (OTS) in partnership with Foundation for Church and Society on Tue. Aug. 14.

LFA State Consultant Dr. Vinito L. Chishi gave a presentation on HIV/AIDS scenario of Nagaland and highlighted the issues and concerns related to increasing number of HIV infection in the state particularly in districts like Dimapur, Kohima, Tuensang, and Kiphire.

Chishi also made a presentation on Global Response on HIV/AIDS and encouraged the students, who are preparing to enter Christian ministry, to make use of their leadership opportunity by taking positive initiatives in addressing the issues related to HIV/AIDS.

While urging the students to address the issue regarding stigma and discrimination on PLHAs, Chishi  asked them to work towards prevention measures aimed towards creating an AIDS free generation in the days to come. Hukatoli from LFA also made a presentation on ‘Risk Factor and Social concern and Responsibility’ with particular emphasis on its consequences, challenges and importance of responsible living. Earlier the programme was chaired by Principal OTS Dr. Joshua Lorin, opening prayer by Academic Dean OTS Dr. James Kalong, and closing prayer by Associate Professor Rev. Dr. Ellen C. Jamir.
