Dimapur, Jan. 15 (EMN): The 33rd general session cum cultural, literary and sports meet of the Aboi Area Students’ Union (AASU) got underway on January 15 at Ngangching village local ground in Mon district on the theme “Together with new vision.”
Minister of higher and technical education, Temjen Imna Along, attended the inaugural programme as the special guest. In his address, Along encouraged the students to play and study well and be consistent with discipline to build the Naga society.
“Be a counted person and be an example to others,” he said adding one may not contribute goal or silver but one can contribute one’s hard work to the society.
Shahang, first Konyak Union president of Aboi unit, also encouraged the students to put more efforts in their studies to compete with the rest of the world. He requested gazetted officers from Aboi area to attend such programme and lead the students in the right direction.
Earlier, the minister was received by the AASU cultural troupe. The minister unfurled the AASU flag, while the Konyak Anthem was presented by Ngangching Bumeinok choir.
The session will culminate on January 18.
Along also visited the ongoing construction of polytechnic building in Aboi. The construction began in 2014. The minister also gave his words to complete the construction at the earliest.
