Dimapur, Nov. 13: Dimapur Police on Tuesday arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in the abduction of a salesgirl at a pharmacy in Dimapur on Nov. 9.

According to a statement from Dimapur Police, both the arrested abductors were members of the NSCN (IM). The accused were identified as ‘leacy’ Nikato Katty, 46 years old, from Atuphumi village, residing at Ekranipathar, Dimapur; and ‘leacy’ Vikashe Achumi, 37 years old, from Nitoi village, presently residing in Naharbari, Dimapur.

According to the police, the duo was arrested based on a complaint that they had abducted a salesgirl from a pharmacy in east Dimapur. The abductors reportedly released the girl after the pharmacy owner made a payment of INR 30,000. A case was registered at East Police Station, Dimapur.

Meanwhile, the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has condemned the act stating that the salesgirl was abducted in broad daylight on Nov. 9 from a pharmacy, New Drugs Shoppe, without any reason.

“This is not a good atmosphere in our society today, when the NCD, under its public action committee is striving hard to inculcate peace and security in the minds of its citizens by bringing the situation under control,” read a statement from the organisation.

The NCD expressed concern that such illegal acts are still happening in the society even after the public action committee of NCD had conducted a public rally on Oct. 31 to protest illegal practices in and around Dimapur.

The joint secretary of NCD, Rangau told Eastern Mirror that the NCD had conducted a meeting in the wake of the incident, during which they agreed that the incident was questionable, for which the law enforcement agency should be answerable and award befitting punishment on the perpetrators.
