Dimapur, Oct. 3 (EMN): In order to let children learn and get firsthand experience of village life, the Awaking Bells Centre (ABC) has organised an educational tour for children to Kezo Basa, an Angami village located about 35 km south of Kohima, on September 29.

On the way to the village, children were mesmerised by the picturesque landscapes and saw villages mystically dotted on the mountains and the unending mountainous ranges rolling as far as their eyes could see.

The team was received warmly by the school management of Kidszee School in Kezo Basa village at 9 a.m. After breakfast, Rokono and her husband led the team for sightseeing and meeting with some villagers. They were taken around the village and their paddy fields at Tora.

The most beautiful sights were the paddy fields in the valley of Tora and the hanging bridge above the Seidzu River. The ABC team had a great time plucking and eating fruits straight from the trees and also acquired some basic importance of cultivation.

Post lunch, the team had a brief interaction with some mothers and village elders. The villagers also contributed local fruits, vegetables and some medicinal plants. The tour proved to be highly educative for children.

Meanwhile, it has recommended all schools in Nagaland located in urban areas like Kohima and Dimapur to take exposure trips to the rural villages and assured that it will be a life changing experience for some students.

It stated that the exposure trips will not only decrease the gap between the rural and urban dichotomy but also open the eyes of many urban dwellers to appreciate the rural way of life and change the stereotype notions about villages.

On the other hand, the villagers could tap the human resources and utilised them for the benefit of their community. Awakening Bells Centre believed that the experience will be mutually beneficial for both the urban and rural dwellers.
