Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): ‘A-1 Power Play’ outscored Purgatory Futsal team 4-1 to lift the first U-18 ‘Futsal Tournament’ trophy organised by A-1 Power Play in association with the State Department of Youth Resources & Sports.
In power-packed 5-man soccer final held Monday night at A-1 Power Play Arena, at 3rd Mile, both the teams were locked at 1-1 draw in the first half (10 minutes duration).
In the second half, the match witnessed a dramatic turn as a spirited ‘A-1 Power Play’ captained by their goalkeeper Mito Achumi outpaced their rivals and scored 3 goals in rapid succession, leaving the rival custodian dazed. At the end of the match, Purgatory boys led by their captain Sehtingin Kuki had to concede defeat.
The champion team was won cash prize of Rs. 30,000 and certificates while the runner up team bagged Rs. 20,000 cash and certificates. Ghovishe Kiba, first class contractor, and V Shikuto Achumi, secretary DCCI, gave away the trophy and prizes to the champion and runner-up teams respectively.
Altogether 16 teams from Dimapur and Kohima took part in the tournament.
Earlier, parliamentary secretary for YR&S, Khekaho Assumi, inaugurated the tournament on May 26.
