Dimapur, Nov. 9 (EMN): A total 508 new recruits in the rank of Constable were commissioned into the State armed forces, who were administered the oath of allegiance at the passing out parade held on November 9 at the NAPTS ground, Chumoukedima.
The 508 new recruits would be posted in DEF/ PHQ/ INT/ PTS/ NPTO and Excise. The 64th batch newly recruited personnel displayed a spectacular attestation parade after a rigorous yearlong training session.
State Home Minister, Y Patton, who was the chief guest at the passing out ceremony, took the salute from the passed out contingents.
In his speech, Patton reminded the newly recruited constables that they were entrusted with the responsibility of public guardian from this day.
“In line with your motto ‘security, service and sacrifice,’ you are now assigned with responsibilities to safeguard the life of the people, to safeguard the properties of the public even to the extent of sacrificing your own life in the service of the people,” motivated the legislator.
Exhorting the new recruits, he said they have become an important and responsible person in the eyes of the society, adding they cannot live casually as they were before.
“You have to live a watchful life for the security of the people and you are expected to lead an accountable life,” remarked Patton.
“There are thousands of educated youth who aspire to enter into police service and who are more determined to render their outmost services for the welfare and security of the people but they cannot avail the opportunity as you are. Therefore, you should keep in mind that you are the most fortunate ones and dedicate your life in the service of the people,” Patton conveyed.
Conveying that he was aware many of them who joined as constable are highly qualified, the home minister expressed optimism that they have joined the service with a commitment to serve the people.
He urged upon those qualified constables to be a source of inspiration to the common people in the society. “Your determination and loyalty will surely pay a dividend in your future,” the legislator said.
The home minister also applauded the recruits for the successful completion of their yearlong training and acknowledged the police officers for rendering selflessly in imparting strenuous training courses. Eight outstanding newly recruited constables were awarded at the ceremonial attestation parade.
