4th Inter School TT Tourney concludes

Jay Gurung emerged as the Dimapur District Champion while Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School lifted the Inter-School trophy in the 4th Dimapur District Open & Inter-School Table Tennis Tournament 2015, which concluded today.The tournament was organized by Dimapur District Table Tennis Association (DDTTA)
In the men’s singles, Jay Gurung defeated Dijanglung Kamson to lift the singles trophy while Zakiesato Memorial Hr. Sec. School defeated defending champion, Delhi Public School to lift the Inter-School trophy.
The closing ceremony was graced by Bishnu Bhattacharjee, President, NPF Minority Wing, Nagaland as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharjee said sports are the medium to unite all in one colour and religion.
He said sports and youth have its universal relationship, adding youth symbolizes energy and vitality and it is also a period to gain stability through maturity as a result of various disciplines in life.
He further said a sport is one such discipline in life which can channelize the energy and vitality of youth to build up a healthy environment or peaceful co-existence of all.
He called upon the students to participate in sports to relax their minds, body and soul from the monotonous pressure of study and other routine works.
Stating that infrastructure and standard of today’s sports in Nagaland is not up to the expectation, he said for its betterment the Central Government should extend possible facilities for each and every district of Northeast with better and adequate infrastructure and sufficient fund to build the future of youths through sports and physical fitness.
Bhattacharjee also observed that students and youths of Nagaland are always active and responsive in traditional games including outdoor and indoor sports.
Bhattacharjee also congratulated all the participants of the tournament.
The occasion was also graced by Lipok Pongen, ex-DMC member and President of Nagaland Wushu Federation, Mohendro Thousan, finance secretary, Kachari Tribal Council, Suresh, president, NPF Minority wing. Dimapur, and Kanailal Das from Kho-Kho Federation Nagaland.
Meanwhile, the DDTTA is grateful to all the well-wishers, DC Dimapur, Kesonyü Yhome, IAS for gracing the inaugural program, Shri Bishu Bhattacharjee, for gracing the closing ceremony, District Sports Officer Dimapur for support and cooperation, Heads of Departments in Dimapur for their financial and moral support and all the sponsors for their support, besides all the participating schools and students and all individuals for making the event a grand success.
