Imphal,March 17: The 239th Shri Shri Bijoygovinda Halankar 2017 was under the aegis of Shri Shri Bijoygovinda Sevayet Committe at the premises of Shri Shri Bijoygovindajee Sagolband in Imphal on Friday. Halankar is being held every year on the 6th day of Yaoshang, Manipuri style of holi celebrated for complete five days till March 16. The three main events of this auspicious religious ceremony: Lai-Lengthokpa, Holi Thougal and Lai Keithel Kaba were carried out by the Holi palas of the state.Waiting for the Maharaja’s blessings, all the Holi dals gathered at the premises of Govindajee Temple at Palace Compound around noon. Then, they escorted the holy Lord Vishnu from his ancestral abode to his brother’s place at Shri Shri Bijoygovinda, Sagolband.
Once the parties reach Shri Shri Bijoygovinda, all the Holi Palas sang and performed religious rituals including pung-cholom in the presence of Lord Govinda and Shri Shri Bijoygovinda.
The Brajamais (gopis), sana-palas of both Lord Govinda & Shri Shri Bijoygovinda along with many women & men folks took active part in today’s Halankar. The Halankar is considered as an important event of the 6-day Yaoshang since it signifies the religious Hindu festival has come to an end.
