17 bands selected for Süngkotenem beat contest

The stage is set for the much awaited beat contest of the region, the Süngkotenem Clash of the Bands 2016 organized by MALT to be held on December 29 at Süngkotenem Park, Mopungchuket village, Mokokchung as part of its quadrennial Süngkotenem Festival.
A total of 17 bands from across Nagaland have been declared qualified to perform at the Live Auditions round on December 29 from 9:00 am onward from which Top 7 bands will be selected to perform at the Finale scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm on the same date, same venue.
As opposed to the 32 bands who registered for the Clash of the Bands 2012 edition, 27 bands registered for this year’s contest out of which 17 bands were selected on the basis of the demo tracks submitted by the bands to perform at the Live Auditions round. The organizers had initially stipulated that only the best 12 bands would be selected for the Live Auditions but made room for additional 5 more bands for the sole purpose and intent of promoting local musicians.
The 17 bands will be allotted 15 minutes each during the Live Auditions round and the Top 7 will be selected by a Panel of Judges to move on to the final round. Clash of the Bands 2016 promises to be a closely contested season, a beat contest that will be remembered for a long time as some of the best talents of Nagaland battle it out for glory at the scenic Süngkotenem Park. With a total cash prize of Rs.1, 20,000 and a covetous title up for grabs, Süngkotenem Clash of the Bands 2016 promises to be a day-long treat for music lovers.
