16th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy from Sept 16

The much awaited football tournaments in the state, the 16th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy, held in in memory of Lt. Kekuojalie Sanchü & Lt. Vikhozo Yhoshü, will commence from September 16 at Kohima Local Ground.
The month-long tournament will be held under the aegis of Angami Students’ Union (ASU) under the theme “Goal for peace.” Making the formal announcement at a press conference here this evening at ASU office, the Organizing Committee convenor Vipopal Kintso informed that the prize money has been enhanced to Rs. 1 lakh sixty thousand. He further informed that that the runners-up will receive Rs. 1 lakh, while the losing semifinalists and quarterfinalists will be given Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 10,000 each respectively. Attractive prizes has also been set aside for ‘Player of the tournament’ including other individual prizes like, best defender, best custodian, highest scorer, best midfielder. It was informed that the player of the tournament will receive a scooty.
Forms for the tournament would be made available in Kohima at – Sports World and Zumvu Printex and ASU Office, below AIR Station, while in Dimapur, forms can be availed at Kiran Sports.
The last date for submission of form is September 11, while the fixture will be drawn on September 12 at 2 pm at Kohima Local Ground.
Meanwhile, both the organizing committee convenor and ASU president Dievi Yano has extended their appreciation to the media for the coverage and cooperation rendered during the past years, while they also expressed hope that the media personnel will deliver their best in the forthcoming 16th edition of the NSF martyrs memorial trophy.
An entry fee of Rs 5,000 would be realized from all participating teams. Participating teams are requested to submit their entry fee along with team flag measuring ‘6×4 feet’ and players’ list while submitting the form. An individual player who is enlisted in two or more teams would be disqualified from the tournament, while the team would be imposed a penalty of Rs 2,000 or further action.
From the first round till the quarterfinal matches, the duration of the matches would be conducted in 70 minutes, while the duration of the matches beyond quarterfinal matches onward will be 90 minutes. Under a tie, the match would be extended for 30 minutes.
The organizing committee convenor Vipopal stated that “it reserves the right to schedule/reschedule the fixtures as per convenience.”
Meanwhile, the organizing committee has also requested all the schools to depute students to witness the inaugural ceremony of the tournament on September 16 at Kohima Local Ground.
